Wisconsin…the
land of cheese, milk and beer became the 30th state to be
accepted into the United States of America. This event took place on May 29, 1848.
The Wisconsin state motto is "Forward," which describes
the attitudes of the emigrants that first came to this part
of the nation. They chose the Wisconsin region due to its
fertile soil and large meadows. Giant glaciers had turned
Wisconsin into the perfect place for agricultural and dairy
farming thousands of years before the first settlers ever arrived.
Other
areas of interest for Wisconsin vacationers, once they have
had their fill Wisconsin beer and cheese, may include a Green
Bay Packers Football game; a trip to the Crystal Caves found
in Northwestern Wisconsin; a boat ride on Lake Michigan or
plan a "waterfull" family vacation in the city of
Wisconsin Dells. The Dells is home to several wet and wild
water parks. Many are housed within hotels, which are only
accessible to hotel guests.
The
state of Wisconsin filled with a diverse population. Emigrants
from Poland, Germany, Switzerland and more have made Wisconsin
their home for generations. This diversity has made Wisconsin
a wonderland of museums, theatres, restaurants and shopping.
Traditional foods, art and more can be found everywhere in
Wisconsin. Festivals celebrating the different cultures are
held throughout the state every year.
Native
American cultures are also celebrated in Wisconsin. Visitors
are invited to attend a pow wow or other traditional tribal
festival while traveling in Wisconsin.
